Margo Zipper Demo at Quilt Market and Eye Candy
Lazies, The Margo Handbag pattern (LGD127) has arrived, she looks great, and we’ve already shipped her out again. Whew! Love the new format of the pattern, too. Margo is printed as a small book, but you can still find her hanging out with the patterns at your favorite local quilt shop.
Zipper Demo Schedule for Quilt Market
Our new zipper technique will be demonstrated at Quilt Market in Minneapolis next week. I’ll be at the Checker Distributors booth Friday 12:00 – 12:45 and Colleen will be at the Pattern Peddlers booth for an hour each morning. Stop by and see us!
Today, I have a few pics of samples I made for Marcus Fabrics. I do not know the name of this line, but it’s scrumptious. Front and back views below. Inside view above.
And you’ve seen this little beauty buckled into the front seat of my car.
Back to the studio for me this week. Gorgeous fabrics have come rolling in from many of the fabric companies and I’m happily working my way through them, enjoying seeing Margo dressed up in all styles and designs.
Enjoy!
Joan
I can’t wait for this pattern to show up in my mailbox. I pre-ordered it last week. The fabric line for the purse in the first two photos is “Faye Burgos” by Marcus Fabrics… I have it in the brown and blue color way…
I LOVE your bags! Could you make a pattern with just one strap? For whatever reason, when I wear a purse with 2 straps, one of them always falls off my shoulder.
Love the pink / orange pattern for Maggie. Looks like a fun project!
My pattern is on it’s way from SewThankful! I have my fabric already as well ๐
Ida, I solve that problem by cutting one strap just little shorter and then when I put it on my shoulder I put the short stap on top of the longer one and it stays right on my shoulder.
Hello anyone, I am interested in the fabric used in the samples . Since we have no nice quilt shops here in my town, I would like to know where I might purchase the fabric. Thanks Mildred
Sorry, I can’t see the Demo in Minneapolis, as I live in Washington, DC. Is there a chance you can do a Demo for others to see via Youtube or something of that nature? I like putting zippers in my bags, but it can be a little trouble for me at times, and as I am a visual person, seeing it done, as you have done with Kaye Woods, is a big plus for me. And thank you for creating such great patterns. I look forward to your response.
Love the bag! An idea for Ida: sew a small piece of velcro at the top of the straps, so you can stick them together on your shoulder.
It looks to me like you had to match the squares on the first bag! AMAZING job! Does your pattern address that issue? LOVE your patterns and bags! I hope to be at your demo in Mpls!

Laurie, that is one piece of fabric with a line of stitching down the middle – you can do it and it will look fabulous! Joan
I love the pink version! Im awaiting my pattern in the mail. Cant wait. You could make one longer strap and sew it in on the ends. Im not one for the two shorter straps.
I like the Marcus Bros fabrics striped effect on the pockets background on the front of Margo. Really makes the pockets and back stand out. This pocketbook is really going to be a fun one to make and to fabrically experiment with. A real Show and Teller.
The pink fabric is Color Defined by Faye Burgos for Marcus Fabrics. I found the fabric in several colorways…just way to cool! I can not wait to get my fabric and get going!!! Thank you once again Joan for a fabulous girl!
My pattern is on the way from Sew Thankful too – cant wait to get it! My hubbys going to have to cook supper the day it comes – Im going to be busy with Margo!
Pattern arrived yesterday from MonAiguille. Looks like fun…plan on making it on the weekend. Hoping it will be my new favorite bag for my Kindle!!
Hi I love your bags. As I live in Australia I was wondering if you could publish instructions on sewing in the zips for your bags as I am very interested. I have always had trouble inserting zips so if you could it would be very helpful. Also can you get the pattern for the Margo Bag in Australia
Cheers
Carole
This pattern looks like it would fit perfectly in the large Boardwalk basket made by the Longaberger Manufacturing a few years ago. They might still be selling it and I have one and would like to make a stylish bag for the inside. What do you think?
Hi, great pattern. Am Awaiting delivery of mine also, cant wait. Msg for Carole in Australia – if you google Punch with Judy youll get her website – really prompt with queries and purchases. Good luck girls with all your projects.
Hi! I just found the pink and orange and yellow fabric. It’s the color defined line! I love it!
I just finished making a margo bag and had difficulty with the zipper as well. A demo. on u tube would be helpful. Thank you
I have the Margo Bag Pattern. I am having some difficulty putting in the zipper. Would appreciate seeing it done. I do better seeing ruthenium reading and trying to figure it out.
