What Are Maggies?
Maggies are stylish little cases, perfect for a camera, phone, giving gift cards or to keep some goodies together in your purse. She’s quick to make and perfect last minute gifts. Better yet, Maggie is made with two 10″ squares of fabric. She’s great for layer cake cuts and left over pieces.
Maggie Kit #1: Fabric is Fresh Flowers by Deb Strain for Moda.
Our Maggie pattern includes two sizes: large is ideal for a camera or cell phone, small is perfect for giving gift cards and more. I use small Maggies to hold my earbuds, loose change and business cards. A large Maggie is really nice for tea or coffee supplies, a first aid kit and so much more.

I’m so lazy I bring my early-rising daughter to be with me and turn on Sesame Street at 6am when she wakes up so I can get another hour of sleep before the other one wakes up!
I’m so lazy that I let my walking foot do all my walking for me.
I am so Lazy I want my sewing machine to be able to read patterns and sew them out for me. But in the mean time I am teaching my daughter how to sew so I watch while she sews.

I’m so Lazy that I finished my second Lazy Girl Towne Bag this weekend. I made one for my daughter in a class with Didi Salvatori and then immediately cut out a second one and finished it for one of my sister in laws and I have 2 more to make. I just love it, and when I was at the quilt shop after class I picked up 2 more Lazy Girl patterns to make. I’ll post pictures on facebook when I get the buttons on the bags. I had so much fun, these Maggies look like great fun too. I need more Lazy ways to create!!
I’m so Lazy that I have tiers of laziness: Sewing before housework; cooking before house work. I’m so lazy that visible dog hair in the floor just tells me that I’m blessed with the love of two wonderful rescue dogs.
I’m so Lazy…..that I’ve rearranged my whole craft room so that I can sew, iron, cut and access the web by a wheeled chair! I can now scoot around the room and not have to stand up!
(of course, I’ll be on crutches for the next few months, so HAD to do something!)

I’m so Lazy… I just dream about all the wonderful Lazy girl projects I’ve made and gave away. Mind you- I haven’t made any yet, but in my mind- ahhh I’m sewing these up continuously.
I’m so Lazy that I’m wearing a Maggie right now. I use small Maggie to hold my train and subway passes. For convenience’s sake, I added a coordinating ribbon so I can wear it around my neck. It’s perfect. I always know where my passes and schedule are and I never have to dig through my backpack. Hurray for a perfect design!
I’m so lazy that microwaving my oatmeal for breakfast seems like too much effort. I’ll just wait until lunch time to eat at the cafeteria.

I’m so lazy..maybe I’ll get my gratitude gifts started. Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and found out just how many precious friends I truly have..the ones who are really there when you need them the most. The ones that expect nothing in return and deserve everything I could ever do for them. As I recover (cancer is gone and now comes the rebuilding phase, thank God) I can return to my love of sewing. I want to make Maggie and tuck in notes of heartfelt gratitude for the ones to did so much to keep me moving forward when I couldn’t see the future for the present. They may fit cameras and phones but I see them as holding dreams and hopes and thanks from my heart and showing them what my words don’t always convey. They gave me the ability to be able to believe that I could sew again and now I can show them in a tangible way just how precious they are to me when words fail me. Chosen or not, Maggie will be the vehicle for gifting these blessings for giving me their heart when I need them most. Joan, your talents also offer more encouragement than you realize..keep it up. I’m so lazy it scares me! I LOVE the Maggie pattern, I made several of them last year for Christmas. I need to pick up the Suzi pattern, but haven’t had a chance. I’m so lazy . . . . . I have my sewing room set up so that all I have to do is turn my chair around so I can cut at my cutting table, a little more to the left I can iron at my pull down ironing board and then next turn right back at the sewing table. I’m also so lazy that I put my wireless mouse and keyboard on the cutting table so that I don’t have to roll 10 inches to the computer table to check out your website and blogs.

I’m so lazy . . . some days I get my “sewing fix” by reading the Lazy Girl Posts, searching the Internet for quilting patterns, and just looking at all the beautiful fabric choices we have available to us today.
My local JoAnns didn’t carry Lazy Girl Patterns (it’s a really small one) and I’m too lazy to drive the hour + to the Superstore that does – so I emailed the JoAnn’s website, suggested the local store start to carry Lazy girl patterns and much to my surprise, they did so and now they can’t keep them stocked!!!!!! Lucky me – lucky town!

What not to like all Maggies are wonderful. I love all the Lazy Girl patterns and just made one for my mom for Christmas. I would love to try a Maggie!

So all of my sewing, is done after my kids go to bed, but making things easier and less time consuming is always wonderful!”
This isn’t lazy you are looking at…this is thinking it through to understand it thoroughly in order to make it more efficiently!
I’am so lazy, that I place my dogs bed next to me, at the sewiing machine, so when I start sewing, i can keep sewing, and they won’t cry for my attention. That way I can keep sewing til I finish my project.. And the house work can wait for another day..

So many benefits from that…it’s greener, it uses up my stash so I can get more fabric, it takes less time and energy to “wrap” my gifts, and… it fulfills my need to sew bags!

I am so lazy I am sitting here reading all of these great posts. I love all of your designs Joan. I have made so many wonder wallets I have lost count. I just made many and gave them as door prizes at our Craft Club function. Even the men liked them. For the men I used a golf theme fabric. I even raved about the pattern to a Gal at the local sewing center, she bought the pattern on the spot. She is lucky if she displays what she makes with the pattern. She gets the pattern for free.

I’m so lazy that I have cobbled together my sewing machine, laptop and coffeepot and they all now have solar batteries. They are floating on a rubber raft in my pool, my phone is in a special waterproof pocket in my bathing suit, and I have a floating “goddess” chair that floats next to the rubber raft “desk” I can be cool, sew, write, drink coffee, and exercise all in one place. Oh and of course siesta is uninterrupted as I float around.
I am so lazy I would rather make a project with the fabric I have on hand than go all the way to the fabric store.

I am so lazy that I bought the Miranda pattern about 3 years ago and haven’t decided the best fabric combination to go with my focus fabric. I also bought the baggie bottom and handles for it. I bring out all my possible fabrics, look at them, feel them and put them away again. I have even bought more possible fabrics. What a dilemma.

I am so lazy…. that winning a new kit would be a perfect gift for my mom. She has had a challenging year, fell and had compression fracture in her back, hadn’t healed from surgery for that when they found breast cancer. She is doing great now but still has to be my dad’s arms and legs as he has severe emphysema. But through it all she sits at her sewing machine and turns out beautiful quilts, purses and donates to charities. Hope I can be half the women she is.

I’m so lazy that I have been looking for a way to always have ALL of my “punchcards” in one place so that I qualify for my purchases….a “Maggie” fell into my hands as a gift…and now all of my punchcards have their “home” and now all of my FQ’s are finding a purpose…to live in someone else’s purse as a potential punchcard home.
I am so lazy I never rethread my machine. I just snip the thread at the spool and tie on the next spool. Then I just put it all the way through the machine and I am ready to go. keep it simple.

This definition of lazy applies to me: moving slowly and gently. Being lazy is actually a learned skill. If more people were lazy; i.e., moving slowly and gently, there would probably be less chaos in the world and we would be more aware of others. Slow down and smell the roses is a very good maxim for a lazy person for me to follow. My creativity is nurtured in my lazy approach to life as my awareness of life around me is heightened. The opposite of lazy is busy. I have resolved never to be busy as past experience has shown me that this results in missed opportunities to nurture my soul, to the detriment of my fellow human beings.

I’m so lazy I really enjoy how fast Joan’s patterns go together because they are sew easy and well thoughtout. You can stack up your fabric and cut out multi itemswith a lot less physical cutting.

I’m so lazy, I’ve waited until the last minute to work on my Christmas Gifts! No sleep for me!
I’m so lazy I spend too much time reading about quilting and sewing instead of actually doing them!
i’m so lazy that i can’t make capital letters to this post.
I’m so lazy that I let the dog have the run of the house … all the candy is gone, the yarn is a mess, and she got into my embroidery CDs … she’s lucky she’s cute and will join us for the holidays!
I’m so lazy for everything but….Quilting, stitching and sewing.
I’m so lazy that I don’t even get started with my sewing and spend most of my time watching tv and planning projects. How they will get done is a major question. Hoping the action bug will bite soon.
I’m so lazy that I hire someone to take my naps for me!
I’m so lazy, I pieced and quiilted four quilts for my daugters and friend, 4 patchwork aprons, a diaper bag for my daughter, laptop sleeve for a friend, a mug rug for another friend, a Chrismas table runner for me…yup, that’s pretty lazy alright…. 😉

I am so lazy that I had eye and eyebrow tatoos so that I don’t have to put on makeup. When I get out of the shower, the pool or wake up in the morning, I already look made up. It also saves me from eyeliner and eyebrow pencil. In the long run I saved myself some $. As you get older the tatoo somewhat fades and it won’t look so bad when I get into the 60s.
I’m so lazy … that I have so many unfinished projects I can’t count them all … but I want to start on a new project !
I’m so lazy that I’ve trained my dog to fetch me the remote, now if I can only get him to change the channels! LOL

I’m so lazy, I plan my days so that I can stay in my jammies all day and just SEW SEW SEW… and if the postman comes, I do put on a bra to make myself presentable! When I actually DO cook, I cook for an army … makes for good leftovers to take out of the freezer, pop in the nuker and continue to sew sew sew ! All I wanna do is, all I wanna do is SEW !

Hi, fellow crafters.
In the past year, I have made at least 150 (maybe more) Maggie Bags. I have used them for gifts, hostess gifts and to hold smaller gifts. I include a little note in each one, descibing the many Maggie uses. I have added about 2-3 inches to the large Maggie to make a matching glasses holder. For myself I have packed a small first aid kit in one bag and a small emergency sewing kit in another . These fit easily in my glove compartment.
I am just getting back into sewing, this looks like a super cool project I can figure out after over 23 years of not sewing. Something I want to take back in my out of control life, and help me destress. Thank you. YOU have such wonderful ideas.
